Sustainability has played an essential role at Plansee since 1921. The Plansee lake is not only our namesake but also our energy source and is more important today than ever. Whether it relates to hydroelectric power, sustainable company management, recycling of materials, or global compliance with labor laws, sustainability has always had multiple dimensions at Plansee and is a core element of our corporate strategy, contributing to our commercial success.
We want to be even more sustainable in future and to use our innovative power to help our customers achieve their sustainability goals. We take a holistic view of sustainability on the basis of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria.
We are focusing on the area in which we can make the biggest difference: our CO2 emissions.
Do you want to know more about what sustainability means to us and what actions we're taking at Plansee?
In our Sustainability Report for the 2023/24 financial year, you can read about which measures and goals the Plansee Group, Plansee HPM, and CERATIZIT are pursuing.
The report also provides numerous key figures and projects relating to our sustainability strategy.
In April 2024, Plansee was awarded the gold medal by EcoVadis, putting Plansee in the top 5% of the best-rated companies worldwide. With a score of 78/100, Plansee is in the 98th percentile. EcoVadis awards ratings in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR) based on a wide range of non-financial information, including environmental impact, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The evidence-based assessments are converted into easy-to-read score cards with scores and medals, and also highlight strengths and areas for improvement.
Plansee, part of the Plansee Group, joined the United Nations (UN Global Compact (UNGC)) in 2023, which is one of the world's most important initiatives for responsible corporate governance. As part of the UNGC, we are committed to supporting its ten principles, including respecting human rights, respecting the rights of employees and their representatives, protecting the environment, enabling fair competition, and combating corruption.
Plansee joined the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) in 2023 and committed to setting science-based climate targets. The initiative pursues the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 °C, as set out in the 2015 Paris Agreement. In 2024, we intend to obtain approval for our goals from the SBTi, which independently assesses and approves company targets based on strict climate science criteria.
In July 2024, Plansee signed the Charta der Vielfalt (Diversity Charter) as part of the Plansee Group. This is an initiative by a number of European countries to promote the recognition, appreciation, and integration of diversity in business culture. By signing the charter, we commit to its contents and make it our duty to actively promote diversity, whether as a business partner, customer, or employer.
